Rahul Mittra plays sessions judge in Haq
The recently released film Haq has emerged as one of the most talked-about courtroom dramas of the year. Starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, and directed by Suparn S. Varma, the film has struck a powerful chord with audiences across the country. Produced by Junglee Pictures under the leadership of Times Group MD Vineet Jain, Haq is being widely appreciated for its sensitive storytelling, gripping narrative, and stellar performances.
While the lead pair has earned praise for their compelling portrayals, Haq also shines because of its strong supporting cast, including Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chadha, Danish Hussain, Aseem Hattangady, Aparna Ghoshal, Piloo Vidyarthi – and especially Rahul Mittra. Known primarily as a filmmaker and branding expert, Mittra delivers a standout performance as Sessions Judge RN Tripathi, earning accolades from both critics and audiences. Film critic Taran Adarsh described his performance as “exceptional,” while ABP News noted the realism and gravitas he brought to the role. Femina has also named Mittra among the five key characters to watch in Haq.
With over 15 years in the industry, Rahul Mittra has largely worked behind the camera, producing notable films such as the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster trilogy, Bullett Raja, Revolver Rani, and Sarkar 3. Recently, he has also gained recognition for his acting in Chamkila, Inspector Avinash, and a Shark Tank India commercial. His decision to act in Haq, he says, was driven by his admiration for director Suparn Varma and the film’s bold yet balanced take on sensitive issues like triple talaq and communal harmony.
Released worldwide on November 7, Haq has seen strong box-office growth, reaffirming the audience’s appetite for meaningful cinema – and positioning Rahul Mittra as a formidable on-screen presence once again.
